ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Isabella County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a Wise Township man for animal abuse.
The 48-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, is alleged to have forcibly held a 28-year-old woman from Harrison to the ground, fondled her and attempted to remove her pants. The woman was able to defend herself and leave the residence, police say.
A deputy attempted to make contact with the man at a residence on East Grass Lake Road in Wise Township, but the man was not there at the time.
The deputy observed dozens of animals, mostly dogs, in and around the residence and property, police say. The deputy "determined that the animals appeared to be in need of care," the sheriff's office stated.
The animals were taken to the Humane Animal Treatment Society in Mount Pleasant.
The sheriff's office stated that deputies "discovered 31 K9's that were able to be caught and transported to the animal control shelter. There was one K9 that was found deceased and was not buried. There was also one goat removed from the property."
The sheriff's office also stated that a firearm and ammunition were discovered at the property.
The man has been charged with one count second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count felon in possession of a weapon, animal dead and not properly buried, three counts animal cruelty and two counts operating an unregistered kennel.
