Missouri men's basketball has started shaping its recruiting class of 2023.

Anthony Robinson II, a guard from Tallahassee, Florida, committed to Missouri on Thursday, giving Dennis Gates and his staff their first commit in the 2023 class.

Robinson, ranked as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, announced his commitment on social media. He chose Missouri over Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech.

A rising senior at Florida State University High School, the 6-foot-3, 155-pound Robinson was perhaps the most productive player on his team as a junior.

According to MaxPreps, Robinson led his team in field-goal percentage, blocks, assists, points scored, rebounds and steals. He shot 40% from 3-point range.

Robinson helped lead the Seminoles to a Class 3A title over Riviera Prep by a 67-66 margin. In the championship game, Robinson scored 19 points and led the team with three blocks.

According to 247Sports, Missouri has 23 scholarship offers out to players in the Class of 2023.

Four of those 23 offers have decided their school, with Robinson choosing Missouri, Marquavious Brown choosing Georgia State, Gus Yalden choosing Wisconsin and Jeremy Fears choosing Michigan State.

Florida High junior guard Anthony Robinson II (2) pulls-up for a shot in the FHSAA Class 3A state championship against Riviera Prep on March 4, 2022 at R.P. Funding Center in Lakeland, Fla. The Seminoles won the state title 67-66.

As the first commit in the Class of 2023, Robinson will soon join a Missouri roster that expects to have some continuity ahead in the 2023-24 season.

Sean East and Nick Honor each have two years of eligibility remaining, meaning they likely will be at MU beyond the upcoming season. Transfer guard Dre Gholston has one year of eligibility, which would open a scholarship for Robinson.

With East and Honor, as well as Kaleb Brown, having spots at guard, Robinson would be able to come in and not feel the pressure of having to contribute immediately.

Landing Robinson indicates Missouri has an open recruiting line to Florida and specifically to Tallahassee, where associate head coach Charlton Young is well-connected from his time at Florida State.
