LANSING – Three teenagers face murder and murder conspiracy charges in connection with the shooting death of a Lansing boy in September 2021.

Malachi Mcabee, 19, Damari Ware, 18, and Jaylin Leek, 16, are accused of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and several weapons counts in Eaton County District Court, Lansing police said in a news release.

The charges stem from the shooting of 17-year-old Anthony Alvion-lnez Davis III on Hunters Ridge Drive, just west of Waverly Road, on Sept. 20, 2021, police said.

An acquaintance drove Davis to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

At the time, police indicated the shooting stemmed from an ongoing issue between Davis and other people. No other details about the investigation were released on Thursday.

The Eaton County Prosecutor's Office said all three teens are being charged as adults. Attorneys for Mcabee and Leek declined to comment on the investigation. An attorney for Ware could not immediately be reached for comment.

Leek was arraigned June 21, while Ware and Mcabee were arraigned June 17, the prosecutor's office said. Probable cause hearings were set for July 28, with a bond hearing scheduled for July 13, officials said.

A judge set a bond of $1 million for Mcabee and $2 million each for Ware and Leek, police said. They remained in custody on Thursday, they said.

In addition to murder and murder conspiracy, all three teens are charged with four weapons charges, including felony firearm possession. Mcabee and Leek also are charged with lying to police in a violent crime investigation.
