Some county departments now accepting credit cards

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Acknowledging it’s been a “slow process,” county government Thursday offered an update on a continuing effort to accept credit card payment for services rendered.

Commissioner Angela Harding said the county is looking forward to “modernizing” its payment system. She said the offices of treasurer, register and recorder, sheriff and planning now accept credit cards. She said the next step will be payment online.

The county earlier this year had reached agreement with a vendor to provide the service at no cost to the county with a 2.75% transaction fee, with a minimum $2 charge, to be paid by the card user.
