Metro Police say they've received zero tips in the case of a 24-year-old man gunned down in Nashville last Friday night.

Miles Slay was walking southbound on 40th Avenue North towards Charlotte Pike when more than a dozen shots were fired from an SUV. Slay was hit and died at the hospital.

In a press conference Thursday, Metro Police said it's "very unusual" to not hear from any witnesses or people with information on the shooting.

Homicide detectives learned that Slay was out to dinner around 8:30 p.m. Friday with his boyfriend at ML Rose. The boyfriend reportedly told police Slay briefly left the restaurant to fetch more money for the meal, but never returned.

Surveillance video shows Slay walking along the area. Police said there's no evidence of him having words with anyone.

Detective Christopher Cote said they haven't found anything in Slay's background that would lead to the "senseless" shooting. He was described as a quiet, young man who generally kept to himself.

Police released a photo this week of the suspect SUV. It's believed to be a 2010-2014 beige, tan or gold GMC Denali. The SUV's passenger-side brake light was out at the time of the shooting.

Detectives said in a case like this one with such a clear photo of the suspect vehicle, there would be numerous tips. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward so Slay's family can find closure.

"This could have been one of your loved ones," Cote said.
