Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has opened up further about Tyrone Dobbs' last-ditch attempt to win back Fiz ahead of her wedding.

Next week will see the soap air Fiz and Phill's big day, though ex Tyrone is still desperately trying to rekindle his romance with Fiz.

However, speaking on Fiz's feeling ahead of the nuptials, Jennie explained to Digital Spy and other media: "I think she's sure that this is the right thing for her, she could go back to Tyrone and it'll all be alright but it's not going to happen. For the future this is what is right for her and the girls and Phill."

The star admitted Fiz feels she's made the right choice, noting that "Phill says all lovely things to her and he (Phil) enjoys doing all the things Tyrone said he didn't enjoy doing with her".

There are also "no more doubts" for her as "she wants that thing that doesn't exist, which is the Tyrone before Alina".

Just before the wedding, Tyrone confesses that he still loves Fiz, Jennie explaining: "It's not a total shock to her when he says that as he's been making it totally obvious that he'd like to get back to normal for the past few weeks and months.

"So it's not a total shock when he says he wants to get back together, but the timing is pretty lousy. But she still wants to marry Phill."

She added of Fiz's mindset on the morning of the big day: "In her head she's just thinking: 'La la la, he didn't say that. It was just a moment of madness and this wedding is happening, this is what we're doing, so we're going for it'. That’s her thought process in the morning."

Jennie went on to admit that she herself has "not loved" playing the bride on the soap, revealing: "You're talking to someone in real life who just went off and eloped, it was just me and my husband.

"I mean all that fuss and all that messing about. Fiz was saying all those lines, should we have done this, it's doomed, should we have had this big wedding? I was thinking no you shouldn't!

"But this was the first big thing that the crew could be able to work on. We went on location even the filming in Phill's house. After all that messing about in lockdown and being two metres apart, and just being in the house and only having two characters.

"So for the crew to be able to be more creative again was great. And the costumes, getting wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses, all that's been lovely, there's been a real buzz about production."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
