UPDATE 5:03 p.m.: Authorities are trying to track down two men — both considered armed and dangerous — who are facing multiple charges in connection with the shooting that injured a teenage boy in Lynchburg Wednesday night.

The Lynchburg Police Department says 44-year-old Richard Lamont McDaniel and 41-year-old Taurus Lamont McDaniel, both from Lynchburg, are wanted for the following charges:

  • Armed robbery
  • Malicious wounding
  • Shooting from a vehicle
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony

As of Thursday, June 30, authorities say both men are still at large and the shooting is still under investigation.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — An investigation is underway in Lynchburg after a Wednesday night shooting sent a teenage boy to the hospital.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, officers responded to the 2200 block of Poplar Street at approximately 9:53 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 for a report of a minor who had been shot.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a 16-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to the leg. He was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital to be treated for these non-life-threatening injuries.
