Walnut Media awards Sportscasters Club scholarships

Walnut Media Sportscasters Club scholarship winners include Macy Bryant and below: Drew Sellon, Adisyn Mendlik, Carson Ortmeir, Amy Crawley and Scott Tatum.

The Walnut Media Sportscasters Club has awarded six scholarships to student-athletes in Fremont. 
 
Macy Bryant and Drew Sellon are the representatives from Fremont High School.

Bryant was a key contributor to the Tigers’ Class A girls state basketball championship in March. She will major in bilingual education and pre-law at the University of Nebraska at Kearney while competing for the Lopers. 

Sellon was a multi-sport athlete for the Tigers. He was the Class A state champ and all-class gold medalist in the pole vault where he cleared 15-0 at Omaha Burke. 

Sellon, who also competed in football and track, will play football at Morningside this fall. He plans on majoring in business. 

Carson Ortmeier and Adisyn Mendlik are the winners from Archbishop Bergan. 
 
Ortmeier was a member of the Knights’ Class C-2 state football championship team and also competed in track for the Knights. 
 
He plans on attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the fall and will major in mechanical engineering. 
 
Mendlik competed in softball and basketball for the Lady Knights. She also was a member of the co-op tennis team with Fremont High School.
 
Mendlik, who also participated in dance, plans on attending UNL in the fall and will major in business-supply chain management. 
 
Amy Crawley and Scott Tatum are the winners from Midland University. 
 
Crawley, a native of Webster, N.Y., is set to begin her sophomore year in shotgun sports for the Warriors. She is pursuing a degree in digital marketing, and communication studies (compressed major) with certificates in nonprofit management and coaching. 
 
Tatum will be a junior pitcher on the MU baseball team in 2022-23. The Paradise Valley, Mont., native is majoring in business management and digital marketing.
