Ocala man jailed after being accused of climbing on top of female victim and choking her

A 21-year-old Ocala man was arrested after a female victim accused him of climbing on top of her and choking her with both hands.

On Wednesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office corporal responded to a local residence in reference to a verbal altercation. Upon arrival, the corporal made contact with the female victim and a man who was identified as William Trevor Jurgens.

The victim told the corporal that on Tuesday evening, she was lying in bed with Jurgens when he became “very secretive” with his phone. She stated that she playfully grabbed his phone to see what he was doing, and this allegedly made him upset.

According to the victim, Jurgens climbed on top of her, placed both hands over her windpipe, and pushed down. She stated that she was unable to breathe, and she became lightheaded.

Shortly afterward, the victim advised that she was able to get away from Jurgens, and she headed into the garage to call a relative. Jurgens entered the garage and allegedly took her cellphone because “he did not want (the victim’s) family involved.”

The victim stated that she was able to get Jurgens’s cellphone from the bedroom. When she stepped outside the residence with the cellphone, she called a relative, and that relative contacted law enforcement.

Law enforcement responded to the residence on Tuesday evening, and the victim gathered her personal items and left the home. She told the corporal that she did not initially report the incident because she was scared.

The corporal noted in the MCSO report that the victim’s neck had noticeable swelling. The victim stated that her neck was not swollen prior to the incident with Jurgens, and she mentioned that the affected area “felt weird.”

When the corporal spoke with Jurgens, he claimed that there was no physical altercation with the victim. He stated that he only raised his voice during an argument with her.

Jurgens was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held without bond. He is facing a felony charge for domestic battery by strangulation.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
