Plattsburgh is challenging diners to eat at its Michigan restaurants for the chance to win exclusive swag.

Plattsburgh will kick off its second annual Michigan Month celebration on Friday, giving red hot lovers from across the North Country a reason to try out some of the area's most notable eateries.Beginning July 1, Plattsburgh is challenging diners to eat at its Michigan restaurants for the chance to win exclusive swag.The first 25 people to complete and turn in their passports by eating at all four restaurants will receive a free Michigan Month t-shirt, with everyone else receiving a free Michigan Month bumper sticker.The restaurants on this year's passport include Gus’ Red Hots, Ronnie’s Michigan Stand, Clare & Carl’s, and McSweeney’s Red Hots. Passports can be picked up at any of the four restaurants or at City Hall, Town Hall and the Chamber of Commerce.T-shirts will also be available for sale.Michigan dogs, also known as Red Hots, are made up of a steamed hot dog on a steamed bun topped with meat sauce. While the exact history of the Michigan dog varies, it is widely believed to have originated in Plattsburgh.Town officials were frank in saying that they hope Michigan Month will help bring additional tourism dollars to the area."We are hoping when people come into the region that they visit and make it part of a weekend experience," said Plattsburgh Supervisor Michael Cashman.
