Court Date for St. Louis Woman

(Desloge, MO) The woman from St. Louis, who is facing several charges after allegedly stealing a jeep and leading Desloge Police officers on a high speed chase, 30 year old Winona Gilliam, has an initial hearing court date of next Tuesday in St. Francois County. It's also reported an officer was injured and a police car received damage during the pursuit. According to reports Gilliam asked a woman to give her a ride Tuesday 
and when the woman got out of the vehicle, Gilliam stole the Jeep and was spotted by a Desloge officer. The chase wound going north in the south bound lanes of Highway 67. Gilliam was captured in the area the 3000 block of Highway Y during a foot pursuit after abandoning the vehicle. The injured officer's leg was hurt after he fell during the chase. Gilliam, is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death to any person, exceeded the posted speed limit by 26 miles per hour or more, and driving the wrong direction on a highway divided into two or more roadways. Gilliam was booked into the St. Francois County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
