The Virginia State Police has released the name of the person who was killed when her car was struck by a train Wednesday night in Pittsylvania County.
Cheryl Blanche Clark, 35, of Altavista apparently died before her vehicle was struck by the train, according to the Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred at 10:50 p.m. on Route 29, one mile north of Sycamore Creek Road.
A 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ran off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment ejecting the driver. The Camaro came to rest on the railroad tracks and was later struck by a train.
Clark was driving the Camaro and was not wearing her seatbelt. Clark died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
