Two people are in custody after a 15-year-old was shot in Birmingham Wednesday night, according to the Birmingham Police Department
Police said the shooting happened in the Morell Todd Housing Community.
Officers responded to 4020 8th Terrace North just before 8:30 p.m. on a call of a person shot.
Police said the officers were told the teen had already been taken to Children's Hospital of Alabama in a private vehicle.
The teen was struck in the upper part of their body, police have not specified where exactly, and their injuries are reportedly as life-threatening.
Police believe multiple rounds were fired into an apartment where multiple teenagers were gathered and the suspect(s) fled the scene on foot.
A nearby apartment was also struck by gunfire, but police said there were no additional injuries.
