UPDATE 4:15 p.m.: Roanoke Fire-EMS shared new information about Thursday morning’s house fire in the southwestern section of the city.
According to the department, crews were called to the 1000 block of Rorer Avenue SW around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30 for a report of a structure fire.
When units arrived at the scene, they found flames “shooting through the roof,” but there are no reports of injuries or fatalities, fire officials say.
As of this writing, the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — First responders are currently at the scene of a house fire in the southwestern part of the Star City.
Roanoke Fire-EMS says crews responded to the reported fire in the 1100 block of Rorer Avenue SW around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30.
The battalion chief told WFXR News that one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
WFXR News’ Haley Connor spoke with Will Campbell, whose family owns the home, and he says he was working on the yard at the house when he confronted a homeless person on the property who reportedly entered the home.
According to Campbell, he walked away, but when he turned around, he saw smoke pouring from the home.
As of this writing, fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
