Authorities Seek Community’s Help to Locate Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Merritt Island Causeway

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are looking for a gray 2013 Chrysler 200 with the Florida tag number of 20CCDL that could have been possibly in the area during the time of collision. The vehicle is similar to the attached photo (not actual vehicle).

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol have released more information on the fatal hit-and-run crash on June 3, involving a bicyclist, that happened on State Road 520 (Merritt Island Causeway) on Merritt Island.

According to a report by Florida Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was traveling westbound on State Road 520 on the paved shoulder, approaching the Hubert Humphrey Bridge when he was struck by a vehicle and ejected into the Indian River.

U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue later located the man in the Indian River where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP officials have identified the deceased victim as 56-year-old Stephan Christian Morf.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers said they are looking for a gray 2013 Chrysler 200 with Florida tag number 20CCDL that could have been possibly in the area during the time of collision.

Any mechanics or auto body shops that may have replaced or repaired a right front headlight or windshield after June 3 matching the vehicle description is asked to contact FHP at 407-737-2213.
