Victim injured after carjacking near Lake Michigan park in Upper Peninsula

ESCANABA, MI – An 18-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged carjacking at an Upper Peninsula park along Lake Michigan.

According to WLUC-TV, the teenager was arrested after he crashed the stolen vehicle into a pole on South 7th Street near 5th Avenue South in Escanaba at 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday.

The alleged carjacking, which left the vehicle owner injured, occurred in nearby Ludington Park.

Officers later found the vehicle and the suspect near the beach house on Aronson Island, the TV station reported.

The suspect was taken to Delta County Jail. The Escanaba Public Safety was assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police and the Department of Natural Resources.
