OAKES, N.D. (Oakes Public School) – Just one day after announcing its new varsity boys’ basketball head coach, Oakes Public School announced that Judy Hansen has been hired as the new varsity girls’ basketball head coach.

Judy has lived in Oakes for the past 25 years. She is married to her husband Steve, and together they have 3 daughters, Lydia, Isabella, and Sadie. Each of Steve and Judy’s daughters are OHS graduates and Tornado Girls Basketball Alumni. She is also the lucky Grandma to Lydia and her husband Nathan’s daughter, Chesney.

Coach Hansen says, “I am very excited to lead this group of skilled young ladies and work to enhance their basketball knowledge. The team will be senior led with a group of young competitors joining them on the court.” She says the focus of the team this season will be “defense and getting up and down the court, using our athleticism while focusing on fundamentals.” Judy says she is “honored by this opportunity to help build a consistent and competitive program at OHS.”

The Oakes girls’ basketball team finished the regular season 14-9 and came in 2nd place in District 5 with a record of 5-1.
