All Aboard Westcliffe announces 4th of July celebrations and fundraisers

All Aboard Westcliffe, a non-profit organization dedicated to telling the story of the railroad and its impact on the economic development and social fabric of the Wet Mountain Valley, will hold several special events and fundraisers over the 4th of July weekend.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 2, 3, and 4, there will be a large yard sale at the 100 block of Rosita Ave. in Westcliffe. There will be clothing, books, and other items as well as crafts by local artists.

On July 3 and 4, there will be a flea market and craft fair also at the 100 block of Rosita Ave. in Westcliffe.

From 7-10 a.m. on July 4 there will be a pancake breakfast which includes pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage links, and drinks for $10/adults and $5/kids 12 and under at 102 Main St., in Westcliffe. Tickets will be sold at the door.

There will also be a silent auction held at the Dora Emporium on July 4. Bidding ends at 2 p.m. and items must be picked up by 4 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit All Aboard Westcliffe and assist in their upcoming project to move an 1880s wooden caboose to Main Street.

RE-2 Announces School Board Vacancies 

The Board of Education of the Fremont RE-2 School District is accepting applications from persons interested in serving on the Board of Education from the date of appointment in August 8 until the next regular biennial school election in Nov. 2023. The Fremont RE-2 School District has two director seats open for appointment.

To be eligible for appointment, each candidate must be a registered elector of the school district for at least twelve consecutive months prior to the date of appointment and must not have been convicted of a sexual offense against a child.

Any person who meets the qualifications and who desires to be considered for the appointment is invited to file a written notice of such intention with the secretary of the Board of Education by August 1 at 403 W. 5th Street, Florence.
