By the end of July, Boone will be the first midwestern town to launch Rail Explorers. The custom-built explorers highlight new pedal-powered rail technology and provide a new way to experience the railroad. The Rail Explorers feature a custom-built electric motor, aimed at making the activity accessible to all age groups. There are options for Quad railbikes, which seat four passengers, and Tandem railbikes, which seat two. “Rail Explorers is excited to bring this unique, one-of-a-kind outdoor activity to the Midwest,” Mary Joy Lu, Rail Explorers CEO, said in a press release. “We are so excited to be partnered with the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad and the history they have preserved on these tracks. A portion of every Rail Explorers ticket sale benefits the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad.”The natural observations of Iowa are one of the main draws that Rail Explorers expect. In a press release, Rail Explorers said that visitors will be able to observe the Des Moines River Valley in its authentic beauty.Rail Explorers is projected to create over 35 new jobs in Iowa, with three full-time positions.
