Freedom Fest JC opens with the WEEE Entertainment Carnival Thursday night and continues through Monday in downtown Junction City. Co-Chair Nate Butler said activities will range from axe throwing to Circus Man and Hog Diggity Dogs. There will be nine food and drink vendors. Barbecue, slushies, lemonade made on site and a variety of food offerings will be available.
"We'll have the tent set up where people can buy their food and go in there and set down and enjoy the food while they're taking a break from the heat, " said Butler.
There will also be numerous craft vendors in Heritage Park.
There will be concerts Friday through Monday evenings. The lineup on Friday night includes Disco Dick & The Mirror Balls at 6:30 p.m. and Paramount at 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening performers at 6 will include ZZ-KC A ZZ Top Tribute band and at 8 Rock Gods. On Sunday Brandon Estelle will perform at 6:30 p.m. and Rhett Walker at 8 p.m. and on Monday the lineup finds Run With It on stage at 6:30 p.m. and Casi Joy at eight o'clock.
There will be fireworks displays both Saturday and Monday nights at 10 o'clock.
