HARBOR SPRINGS — Approaching nearly 50 years, the annual Paul Revere 5K and 10 mile run will return to downtown Harbor Springs next week.

After a year of being a virtual event, the race returned to July 4 last year with hundreds of runners flocking to the streets of Harbor Springs.

The 48th edition of the Paul Revere run will take place on Monday, July 4, with both the 10 mile and 5k runs beginning at 8 a.m.

The 10 mile race begins near the Zoll Street dog beach, then heads down Main Street in downtown, follows Beach Drive into Roaring Brook, before the turnaround at the intersection of Beach Drive and M-119. The finish will then be on Bay Street downtown.

The 5k will then feature a route out and back through Wequetonsing, down Pennsylvania Drive and back along Beach drive. Start and finish will be in the same location.

Last year, Petoskey locals and collegiate runners Joe Farley and Emma Squires earned victories in the 10 mile and 5k races, respectively. Farley runs for Kent State, while Squires recently finished up her first season with Purdue.

Links of the race maps and signup for each race is $25 and then $30 after June 30 and can be done online at: runsignup.com/race/mi/harborsprings/paulrevere5k10milerun

The event will once again serve as a fundraiser for the Harbor Springs cross country and track and field programs.
