Expansion on 30th Avenue receives tax break

Pinnacle Development has received a five-year property tax break from the city for its planned $1.3 million expansion of Sandman Structural Engineering on 30th Ave. S.

Pinnacle Development was granted a five-year property tax exemption at Monday’s Moorhead City Council meeting for an expansion of the building that currently houses Sandman Structural Engineering, a firm that provides licensed professional engineering services focusing on structural design.

Construction is expected to begin in July, with completion slated for March 2023.

The 9,000-sq.-ft. expansion will boost the value of the existing building at 1587 30th Ave. S. by about $1.3 million, economic development advisor Derrick LaPoint told the council. The growing firm currently has 38 full-time and seven part-time employees.

Based on the expansion, which almost doubles the facility’s current footprint, the council approved an expansion amounting to $103,288. The current tax rate is 1.6%.

Sandman Engineering’s services include all kinds of projects, from residential to commercial to industrial.The firm is registered in all 50 states and five Canadian provinces. It has maintained its corporate headquarters here since 2005.
