The special “Awakening Stories of Ancient Bison Hunting” exhibit is underway and it ends July 31. The exhibit in the Lower Gallery showcases prehistoric bison hunting practices and the importance of the bison to Native Americans. It brings to life bison hunting as it was practiced for thousands of years by Indians on the Colorado High Plains; focusing on the Kaplan-Hoover Bison Bonebed, a bison-hunting site located in Windsor. This traveling exhibit was created by the Northern Colorado Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society and is offered through the City of Greeley Museums. This exhibit was made possible with generous funding and support provided by the Colorado Historical Society-State Historical Fund, Colorado Endowment for the Humanities, Colorado Archaeological Society, and the City of Greeley Museums.
