SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Missouri man was killed when he ran onto Interstate 135 south of Salina. It happened in the southbound lanes near milepost 86 at 6:30 a.m.

The Kansas Highway Patrol was notified of a two-vehicle non-injury crash with one driver walking south. Shortly afterward, an additional crash involving a pedestrian was reported.

The highway patrol said 25-year-old David Pierre Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri, who was in the initial crash, was struck by a Chevy Equinox. He died at the scene. It is not known if Jackson was in the roadway or walked/entered the roadway. The patrol said limited visibility due to a gradual hill prevented the driver from observing Jackson’s movements.

The driver and passenger in the Equinox were not injured.
