BETTY KAY VRCHOTA

Betty Kay Vrchota, 63, of Veblen, SD passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2022 at Hillhead, SD. No funeral service will be held per Betty’s wishes. Private burial will take place at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD.

Betty was born in Britton, SD on November 28, 1958 to Lawrence & Kathleen “Sue” (McLaughlin) Vrchota. She joined her older brother Harry and was later joined by younger sister Susan. Betty’s younger years were spent on the farm at Hillhead, SD. She loved playing with her dog and riding horses. Betty graduated from Veblen High School in 1977. Over the course of Betty’s life, she was an Avon rep, a bar owner, bartender and a waitress. Betty was proud to be a life member of the V.F.W. United States Auxiliary. In 1990, Betty gave birth to her only child, Kathleen, while living in Wisconsin. Returning home to her roots, Betty made Veblen, SD home again, surrounding herself with family and friends. Betty had a heart of gold and was friends to all and loved visiting and talking on the phone. She had an opinion and you were going to hear it. In 2015, Betty’s pride and joy was born, her grandson, Shaun Lee. Betty & Shaun enjoyed road trips, visiting friends, camping, fishing, rodeos and going to the races in Aberdeen. Betty will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother Harry, sisters Harriet Ann & Susan, nephew Lance and niece Harriet Sue.

She is survived by her grandson, Shaun, Veblen, SD; daughter, Kathleen, Fargo, ND; Nephews: Lee Vrchota, Claire City, SD and Lucas (Sadie) Siemieniewski, Geneseo, ND; Nieces: Barbi (Dave) Eberle, Apopka, FL; Kristine DeLarosby, Prior Lake, MN; Stacy Vrchota, Troy, AL; Wendy (Ryan) Hanson, Forman, ND; Becky (Josh) Myhra, Wahpeton, ND and many relatives and friends.
