Louisville woman arrested in connection with shooting that left 17-year-old girl paralyzed
A Louisville woman has been arrested for paralyzing her neighbor's 17-year-old daughter.
Lakita Gordon pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to charges of assault and wanton endangerment.
Gordon fired a shot through her neighbor's front door on Marret Avenue in Shelby Park on Nov. 25, 2020, and her daughter was hit in the back, according to police.
Police say that 33-year-old Gordon had an ongoing dispute with her neighbor.
On the night the shooting happened, police say that Gordon beat on the door with her fist and dared her neighbor to come out and fight.
The neighbor's daughter got between her mother and the door trying to turn her away when police say Gordon fired.
Her injuries left her paralyzed from the waist down.
In court, a judge increased Gordon's bond from $25,000 to $250,000.
