Eugene Broxson Jr., age 78, beloved Husband, Dad, and Poppy passed away June 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Eugene “Gene” was born May 9, 1944, in DeQuincy, La., to Eugene Sr. and Ira Bea (Shroll) Broxson. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sondra Aline (Broxson) Hyman of Metairie, La. His legacy of love includes his wife of 40+ years, Anne (CORINNE) Hale Broxson of Leesville, La.; son, Preston Eugene Broxson and Pamela Watson of Leesville, La.; daughter, Sarah Grace (Broxson) Ellis and husband Robert Ellis Jr. of Dallas, Texas; his bonus children of his heart include, Kalem and Suzanne (Laird) Dartez of Winnsboro, La., Ken and Jordan Ann (Myers) Lukens of DeRidder, La., Robert G. Latiolais III and Fallon Jo Schilling of Hammond, La., Caleb and Justine (Hoppa) Ramsey of Lake Charles, La.; grandchildren, Owen R. Ellis, Samuel Alford, Kelly Ann Alford, Carsten Lukens, Brooks Lukens, Rhett Lukens, Jude-Ashli Wren Lukens, Rhyann Grace Latiolais, Parker Jo Schilling, Ella Lynn Ramsey and His Grand Camel “Mr. Amigo.”; additional family survivors include brother-in-law, Alvin C. Hyman of Metairie, La.; brother-in-law, Clark Hale Jr. (Melanie) Round Rock, Texas; sister-in-law, Kelly (Hale) Morse (Bill) Ballwin, Mo.; sister-in-law, Alison Leigh Hale of Clearwater, Fla.; brother-in-law, Matt (Donna) Brown of Meridian, Miss.; brother-in-law, Stephen Andy Brown of Meridian, Miss., and Matter Brown of Meridian, Miss.; brother-in-law, Ronnie Norwood (Michelle) of Clinton, La.
Eugene retired from ATT/Bellsouth Telecommunications with 30+ years of service and went on to enjoy a second career with great passion as a Role Player at Fort Polk, LA for 10+ years with Cubic/Valiant, a job that brought him much pride and fulfillment and many new friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to family and staff of Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Services are entrusted to the Rev. Jim Miers and the Rev. Guy Snyder.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, from 5-9 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. service time in Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be Friday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at Central Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, La. Louisiana State Veteran’s Cemetery – 3348 University Parkway-Leesville, La.
In lieu of flowers Tribute Gifts in Eugene’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at Parkinson.org or by calling 1-800-4PF-INFO or by filling out a tribute gift form at the funeral.
