Motorcyclist critically injured in Kent County crash

KENT COUNTY, MI – A motorcyclist was critically injured Wednesday, June 29, in a collision with a sport-utility vehicle that pulled into his path.

The name of the victim, a 65-year-old Greenville man, was not released.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. on Lincoln Lake Avenue NE and Old 14 Mile Road in Kent County’s Oakfield Township. Police said the driver of a Jeep had stopped at the intersection before pulling out in front of the motorcycle, which was going south on Lincoln Lake Avenue.

The motorcyclist could not avoid crashing into the Jeep, Kent County sheriff’s deputies said.

He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet.

The sheriff’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
