KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A multivehicle crash along eastbound Interstate 40 early Thursday caused hours of delays as drivers made their morning commutes.
The crash occurred sometime before 5 a.m. on I-40E near Watt Road (mm 369) and initially blocked an eastbound right lane and right shoulder. The incident has since been cleared from the roadway.
Tennessee Department of Transportation SmartWay cameras streamed the incident for hours, showing congested traffic flow as emergency response crews worked the scene. The cause of the crash or any injuries to drivers is unknown at this time.
