Lancaster County District Court records say Angelo Bol, 42, is charged with first degree murder after investigators believed he was responsible for the death of his cellmate at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.
Bol was found not mentally competent to stand trial for the murder and has a review hearing set for December.
Corrections officials said Kevin Carter, 20, was found unresponsive in November 2020 and was later pronounced dead.
Bol was originally convicted of murder when he shot and killed his co-worker in the parking lot of Gibbon Pack in 2015.
