Reward offered for informaton on 1999 cold case

A reward has been offered for information that leads to the arrest in a 1999 cold case.

Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers said in a press release that the family of Kevin Slater and its organization is offering the $5,000 reward.

Slater was found shot to death in his car about 9:30 p.m. on January 13, 1999 at the intersection of Tandy Drive and Cora Circle in Gulfport.

Family members say Slater was headed to work at the Imperial Palace in Biloxi. He worked two jobs as a security officer, including one at what was Dupont in Delisle.

Slater’s sister, Charnique Slater Jones, said she thinks about Slater every day.

“When he died, a piece of my heart went with him. If anyone has information, please come forward. No details is too small. Please help my family get justice for Kevin.”
