REPORTER: AT LEAST 4 HOMES WERE BADLY DAMAGED IN THIS MORNING’S FIRE IN MCKEESPORT. WE KNOW THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THEIR HOMES SAFELY. THIS MORNING, FIRE INVESTIGATORS WORKING TO LEARN WHAT CAUSED THIS FIRE. CELLPHONE VIDEO SHOWS A HUGE FIRE AT A HOME ALONG SOLES STREET IN MCKEESPORT THIS MORNING. THE FLAME SPREADING TO AT LEAST THREE OTHER HOMES AND SUVS PARKED ALONG THE STREET. ALLEGHENY COUNTY 911 DISPATCHERS AT LEAST FOUR PEOPLE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL. >> IT WASN’T YOUR AVERAGE FIRE YOU CAN STEP OUT. IT WAS TOO FULLY ENGULFED. TOO FULLY ENGULFED. >> -- REPORTER: THIS MAN AND HIS FAMILY LIVED IN THE HOUSE WHERE THE FIRE STARTED. THEY GOT OUT SAFELY AND HE SAYS WITH THE HELP OF MCKEESPORT POLICE THEY RESCUED HIS TWO ELDERLY NEIGHBORS. >> FIRST PERSON I SAW WAS MY MAN COMING THROUGH THAT BACK ALLEY. AND HE ASSISTED THE NEIGHBORS, GOT THEM OUT SAFELY. AND THE HOUSE IS NOW NO MORE. REPORTER: FOR HOURS FIREFIGHTERS WORKED OUT TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES. Several homes were damaged as fire spread from house to house in McKeesport on Thursday morning.The fire was reported a little after 2 a.m. on Soles Street damaging at least four homes. A man who didn’t want to reveal his name described the chaos.“We didn’t know what it was so my sister was yelling ‘get out, get out, get out. There’s a fire,’” said the neighbor.That neighbor said police assisted in helping an elderly couple in a neighboring house escape. The neighbor described the flames as “like a tornado full of fire. Like a swirl.”Police, firefighters and paramedics were all called to the scene. Fire crews spent hours working to put out the flames. Allegheny County 911 dispatchers said at least four people went to the hospital.The Allegheny County fire marshal dug through debris and an accelerant detection K-9 was brought to the scene.The neighbor we spoke with said he thinks the fire was suspicious. "That's a case of arson," he said. "I'm not a young guy. I'm not an old head, but that's not your average fire."The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
