Hoax bomb threat prompts evacuations, bomb squad at SRJC’s Bailey Hall

Santa Rosa Junior College Police joined with two local agencies to respond to a bomb threat Wednesday evening on the Santa Rosa campus that was later ruled a hoax, according to authorities.

At around 5 p.m. an unknown suspect told police dispatch there was a bomb in Bailey Hall. At 5:21 p.m., SRJC District Police released an SRJC alert to avoid the area. Officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department  evacuated the building so the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad could sweep Bailey Hall. The team found no explosives and deemed the building safe around 6:20 p.m.

“It was found to be a false report, a hoax,” said SRJC District Police Chief Robert Brownlee. “We’re going to do a follow-up investigation to see if we can find out who did it.”
