Anne Davidson Pummer Schmell

Anne Davidson Pummer Schmell, 86, of Claremore, Okla., (previously of Quakertown, Pa.) passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022. Anne was born on March 27, 1936, in Beaver Falls, Pa. She was the daughter of Addison Davidson III and Ellen Carver Davidson Burt.

Anne is survived by her husband, Willard Schmell, brother, Addison Davidson, daughters, Kathleen Dressel (Michael), Marsha Eichelberger (Thomas), Cynthia Rauscher (Michael), and Nancy Dechant. She has nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Pummer, her sister, Christine Davidson Cowles, and granddaughter, Natasha Dechant.

Upon graduation from Quakertown High School in 1954, Anne attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Bethlehem, Pa. She graduated with her RN in 1957. She married Frank A. Pummer in August 1957.

Anne began her nursing career in the office of Dr. Harvey and Dr. Donald Feigley and later joined the staff at Quakertown Community Hospital. Anne was a longtime member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Richlandtown, where she became the first woman to serve on church council. Anne also taught Sunday School and played the piano at various events at St. John’s. She was elected to the Quakertown Community School Board in the 1980’s; Anne’s involvement in the Girl Scouts led her to become a Girl Scout leader. During her senior years she was a volunteer for Senior Companions of Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.
