The Sandpoint Sharks swim team, which has been performing exceptionally well over its last couple of competitions, is reaching out to the community.

The annual Sandpoint Sharks swim team bake sale is set to take place on Saturday, July 2.

The Sandpoint Sharks swim team's bake sale will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Farmer’s Market in Sandpoint at Farmin Park.

This event supports the only local traveling swim team in Sandpoint.

“Our team is small but at each meet continuously challenges larger teams,” Anne Marie Norling said. “The bake sale is our largest fundraiser of the year.”

So far this season, the small, but mighty, swim team has already broken several meet and pool records during the season.

At its latest event in Spokane, the Summer Solstice meet, Ava Deleeuw broke the Sandpoint YMCA pool record in the 1500-meter freestyle.

The youngster finished with a time of 20:14.53 for a fourth place finish.

The team performed even better two weeks prior at the Walla Walla swim meet.

The Sandpoint Sharks came out and broke five individual meet and pool records.

Myelle Jensen racked up four of those records in the 100-meter free, 100-meter back, 50-meter back, and 50-meter fly.

Lou Foust claimed the other record break in the 100-meter back.

The team has been performing exceptionally well during the season and the fundraiser is a great opportunity for the team to gain better resources and grow the team as well.

The bake sale proceeds go directly back to the swim club.

The money will go towards things such as swim gear and team growth.

If interested in helping the Sharks swim team grow, make sure to visit the farmer's market in Farmin Park for its bake sale from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 2.
