Cardinals lose in heartbreaker to end series

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cardinals looked to sweep the series against the Marlins Wednesday, but instead fell in a heartbreaker in the ninth inning 4-3.

St. Louis led 3-2 from the fifth inning on. They needed just one out left in the ninth when Avisail Garcia knocked a two-run homer off of Ryan Helsley to get the win.

Andre Pallante dominated on the mound allowing five hits off two earned runs in seven innings.

At the plate, the Cardinals were led by Dylan Carlson once again driving in two runs for the second straight night. Brenden Donovan also had an RBI.

Up next - St. Louis will hit the road traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies Friday at 5 p.m.
