Cloud County Co-op edges Legion, 6-5

Cloud County Co-op held on to defeat the American Legion 6-5 in the championship game of the Concordia Recreation Girls' Softball Tournament Tuesday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Trinity McWhorter and Mackenzie Gillenwater singled and scored runs in the bottom of the first inning to give Cloud County Co-op a 2-0 lead in the game.
The American Legion closed the gap to 2-1 when Cadence Bilbrey scored a run in the top of the second inning.
Scoring two runs in the top of the third inning, the American Legion went up 3-2.
Morgan Lister and Addison Forshee scored in the inning.
Cloud County Co-op reclaimed the lead at 4-3 when Bailey Conner and Genevieve Demanett scored runs in the bottom of the third.
Tacking on two runs in the fourth inning, Cloud County Co-op led 6-3.
Gillenwater and Anna Widen singled and scored in the inning.
Lister and Forshee, the first two American Legion batters in the top of the fifth inning, got on base and came around to score and make it a 6-5 game.
Cloud County Co-op was able to record three consecutive outs to secure the win.
In the third place game, Funk Pharmacy defeated Subway, 13-8.
Funk Pharmacy led the game 3-2 after one inning of play.
Outscoring Subway 4-1 in the second inning, Funk Pharmacy upped the lead to 7-3.
Funk Pharmacy scored three runs in the third inning, and Subway scored two.
Each team added three runs in the fourth inning.
Bridgett Blochlinger, Zaeley Garst, McKayla Cherney, Amanda Ryals, Taygnn LeDuc and Kynlee Flesher scored two runs each for Funk Pharmacy.
Marlee VanMeter, Addison Abitz and Emma Bray scored two runs each for Subway.
