Chevrolet/Buick clips Knights of Columbus

Brody Knox and Gehrig Bechard hit back-to-back home runs in a four-run fourth inning that propelled Concordia Chevrolet/Buick to a 6-5 victory over the Knights of Columbus in the opening round of the Concordia Peewee Baseball Tournament Monday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
In the other first-round game, the American Legion rolled to an 18-1 victory over the Concordia Lions.
Concordia Chevrolet/Buick will play the American Legion in the championship game on Wednesday night.
The Knights of Columbus take on the Concordia Lions in the third-place game.
Chevrolet/Buick and the Knights of Columbus were tied at 1-1 after one inning of play.
Scoring a run in the second inning, Chevrolet/Buick went up 2-1.
The Knights of Columbus put up three runs in the third inning, and led 4-2.
Knox and Bechard then homered in the top of the fourth inning as Chevrolet/Buick pushed across four runs to recapture the lead at 6-4.
The Knights of Columbus closed the gap to 6-5 with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Chevrolet/Buick retired the Knights of Columbus in order in the fifth inning.
Knox and Easton Knox did the pitching for Chevrolet/Buick.
Brady LaBarge and Jack Gilliland pitched for the Knights of Columbus.
Daniel Kemling had two hits and scored two runs for Chevrolet/Buick. Bechard had two hits and Case Richard scored two runs.
Grayson Farha had two hits and scored two runs for the Knights of Columbus.
Sending 13 batters to the plate, the American Legion bolted to an 8-0 lead on the Concordia Lions in the first inning.
Koehn Williams hit a solo home run for the Concordia Lions in the second inning.
The American Legion had 10 consecutive batters reach base and come around to score in the second inning in pushing its lead to 19-1.
Kasey Pearson pitched a one-hitter in getting the win for the American Legion.
Layne Herrman had two hits and scored three runs for the American Legion.
Pearson, Brandon Vignery, Ayden Krier, Braytin Hake, Trigg Fraser and Liam Lervold scored two runs each.
