One person was seriously injured after a crash on Interstate 90 five miles west of Sioux Falls on June 29, 2022.

Three people were injured with one in serious condition after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 west of Sioux Falls on Wednesday afternoon.

A 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer was eastbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 391 when the rear driver-side tire exploded, according to Highway Patrol spokesman Tony Mangan. The driver lost control and the vehicle went into the south ditch and rolled, where it started on fire, Mangan said.

The 32-year-old male driver and a 22-year-old male passenger were both wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries. A 22-year-old male was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.

He was airlifted from the scene to a Sioux Falls hospital, Mangan said.
