VBPD: Shots fired at Lyft driver during argument, suspect arrested
I'M PAIGE PREUSSE. AND I'M BRANDON EVANS. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS. A VAN BUREN MAN HAS BEEN FOUND AND ARRESTED - AFTER REPORTEDLY PULLING A GUN ON HIS LYFT DRIVER, THEN RUNNING AWAY... WE WANT TO GO TO 40/29'S LYDIA FIELDER LIVE IN VAN BUREN FOR US WITH WHAT LED TO THAT ARREST. JUST AN HOUR AGO, SIMMONS FOODS EMPLOYEES IN THIS PLANT BEHIND ME SAY THE SUSPECT CAME UP TO THE GUARD SHACK AND ASKED FOR WATER. THAT'S WHEN THEY CALLED 9-1-1, AND POLICE WERE THERE WITHIN A MINUTE TO ARREST HIM. THAT'S WHEN POLICE SAY PASSENGER LEE ENDED UP PULLING A HANDGUN AND FIRING TOWARD THE DRIVER... AT THE INTERSECTION OF 3RD AND MAIN. OF 3RD AND MAIN. FORTUNATELY, NOBODY WAS INJURED. BUT THE DRIVER OF COURSE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. POLICE SAY LEE IMMEDIATELY JUMPED OUT OF THAT VEHICLE AND RAN TOWARD SIMMONS VEHICLE. POLICE SAY LEE IMMEDIATELY JUMPED OUT OF THAT VEHICLE AND RAN TOWARD SIMMONS PROCESSING PLANT. CPT. JONATHAN WEAR SAYS POLICE TOLD FACILITY SECURITY ABOUT THE INCIDENT, SO THEY KNEW TO LOOK OUT FOR SOMEONE. <> <CPT. You know, so we don't know what he was doing during this time. Of course, it's, it was a little warm at that time. So I'm sure he's dehydrated, was running from the police." // (2:48-:56) "fortunately, they knew exactly what to do when he showed up at the guard shack. So we were able to apprehend him. We now believe that the public is safe" LEE WILL BE BOOKED INTO CRAWFORD COUNTY JAIL ON A NUMBER OF CHARGES, INCLUDING AGGRAVATED BURGLARY, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, AND FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM. AS FAR AS WHAT STARTED THE ARGUMENT, POLICE SAY THAT'S STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. WE'LL KEEP YOU UPDATED AS

Van Buren police arrested a suspect accused of shooting at a Lyft driver.Police said there was an incident at 3rd and Main St. in Van Buren between a Lyft driver and a passenger. Police said no was hurt, but called Lee armed and dangerous.Police named Deangelo Maurice Lee of Fort Smith as suspect in the incident. After getting a tip from Simmons Foods employees that Lee was spotted, officers arrested him.
