Unconscious teen transported to hospital after being pulled from water in Centerville

CENTERVILLE, Mass. — Authorities say a teenager was pulled from the water at a popular swimming site in Centerville Wednesday afternoon.

A 15-year-old boy jumped from the Craigsville Beach Bridge around 2:30 p.m. and lost consciousness according to the Centerville Fire Department. The bridge is a popular place for people to fish and go swimming.

Officials say three teens from Red Hook, New York, noticed the victim in trouble and sprung into action. Two of the teens dove in the water while the third alerted rescuers.

The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where his condition is unknown.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the victim was unconscious on the bank of the river, surrounded by the New York teens, according to authorities. Staff from Craigville Beach also responded to the scene, including two lifeguards.

The incident remains under investigation.
