Dispatch received a call about the robbery while officers responded to a hold-up alarm at the bank, police said.

Responding officers obtained the direction in which the suspects last traveled and learned that the stolen money was in the area of Keney park through a tracking device from the bank, officials said.

Upon entering Keney Park, police said the first responding officer saw two men standing next to a vehicle looking into what appeared to be a bank bag.

When the two men spotted the officer, they immediately fled on foot, police said.

Authorities then established a perimeter and eventually took the two suspects into custody.

Officers arrested Hakeem Malik Robinson, 26, of Hartford, and Zaiqwan Fothergill, 20, of Hartford. Both were charged with first-degree Robbery, first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, second-degree Threatening, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, and Interfering with Police.

Officers also recovered the money that was stolen from the bank and a firearm that was used in the incident, officers said.

It's unknown how much money was stolen. No injuries were reported.
