A runaway emu in West Milford is back home after he escaped from his pen last week.
Sandy Roberto says she’s not sure how Vance, her emu, escaped from his pen last Monday. The pen is 6 feet high -- almost a foot taller than Vance.
Roberto says once she noticed he was missing, a stressful week ensued.
"A lot of anxiety. I had a lot of phone calls, a lot of running around looking for him...hoping that he didn't run in front of somebody's car and they didn't kill him, they didn't get hurt,” Roberto says.
Vance was seen near Roberto's farm on Sunday. It took five people to help corral him and bring him back home.
