GRANTS, N.M. –

The City of Grants Annual Fireworks Show is scheduled to go on as planned. This year’s firework extravaganza is a show put on by Cibola local Tony Madrid Jr. The fireworks display will go on at approximately 9:15 p.m. As usual, the fireworks show will be displayed from Coyote Del Malpais Golf Course, but there are new parking restrictions for the show that are designed to keep traffic flowing and the roads safe for everyone.

The Independence Day holiday will include a jumper and face painting for kids, a cornhole tournament and live music for the adults.

New Parking

The City of Grants is expecting parking to fill up rapidly. Parking will start in the primary paved lot at the Coyote Del Mapais Golf Course located on 2001 George Hanosh Boulevard. After the primary parking fills up, the golf course’s secondary parking will be used, traffic directors will be on scene to guide the flow of traffic.

The city will be working to make sure that onlookers do not park on George Hanosh Boulevard. This is for the safety of local residents, onlookers who are coming to watch the firework display, and first responders who are working to protect the community from any potential fires during the explosive holiday.

Onlookers can still park on Sakalares, but all of the fun and action will take place at the golf course.

Live Entertainment

Featuring a live band, the City of Grants is having live music starting at 6 p.m. The band Time Well Wasted will perform until 9 p.m.

No outside alcohol is allowed at the event. Cooking, open flames and personal fireworks are banned from the event. Jumpers and face painting will be available for the children. A cornhole tournament will begin at 4 p.m., before the band starts playing.

Fireworks will start at dark, which is expected to be around 9:15 p.m. just after the band stops playing.

Please be orderly and follow directions from the city officials, their instructions and directions are for the safety of everyone attending the event. The event is a great display of the spirit of working together from the City of Grants, as their many departments have come together to see this be a successful event.
