Two people have been charged in connection to the overdose death of a 46-year-old Enid man last October.
Kenneth Tyrone Sanders Jr., 37, was taken into custody without incident at High Point Trailer Park on Tuesday night.
Gage Alexander Huffman, 26, was already in custody on unrelated drug charges. Both had warrants for first-degree murder.
Police said the eight-month-long investigation began when officers responded to an unattended death in the 400 block of West York on Oct. 20, 2021.
Eric Lee Houston was found dead in a detached garage.
Police said they found drug paraphernalia consistent with the use of fentanyl.
Investigators said Houston's fiancee told them that he met with Huffman to buy counterfeit M-30 tablets containing fentanyl.
The three went to the High Point Trailer Park and Huffman bought the tablets from Sanders, according to police.
Houston began smoking the tablets in his car and his residence, police said.
While being interviewed, police said Huffman and Sanders corroborated what Houston's fiancee told them.
Police said Sanders told them he knew the dangers of fentanyl and said he knew people who have died from it.
When asked about the pills that killed Houston, police said Sanders told them he got them from him.
Sanders and Huffman are being held without bond.
“It is impossible to distinguish between counterfeit or authentic prescription drugs when buying them on the street, the consequences of taking these drugs outside the direction of a medical professional has proven to be deadly time and time again,” said Eduardo A. Chavez, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Dallas/Oklahoma. “Today, Mr. Sanders and Mr. Huffman are being held responsible for their actions.
