TOWN AND COUNTRY (KMOV) -- A 19-year-old man has been charged with a June 14 shooting outside a retirement center in Town and Country.

Christian L. Fredrick of St. Louis was charged with assault, robbery and armed criminal action. Police allege he shot a 20-year-old man in the 13000 block of South Outer Forty Road near the Delmar Gardens Villas West Retirement Community the afternoon of June 14. The victim was taken to the hospital after he was shot three times and was listed in critical condition but survived the shooting. He was put in a medically-induced coma and eventually woke up.

He later told police that Fredrick had shot him and picked him out of a photo lineup, according to a probable cause statement. The statement said the victim, who was an employee at Delmar Gardens, had arranged to sell a co-worker’s gun to Fredrick. The victim, Fredrick and another man met outside Delmar Gardens in a vehicle for the exchange, the statement said. Police said Fredrick and the other man demanded the victim give them the gun. The victim refused, police said, and then he was shot inside and outside the car. He left his phone in the vehicle, which was recovered on Interstate 170 by the Missouri Department of Transportation. Tracking of the phone’s location was consistent with the timeline police had.

Fredrick’s bond was set at $500,000 and he is being held at the Town and Country Police Department. Town and Country Police said officers are still trying to identify an additional suspect in the case.
