Sylacauga man dies as a result of motorcycle-deer collision in DeKalb County

A Sylacauga man died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning after his motorcycle struck a deer, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers.

Joey S. Wooten, 51, was seriously injured when the 1995 Suzuki Savage motorcycle he was driving hit a deer on DeKalb County Road 81, about 3 miles south of Fort Payne. He was taken to DeKalb Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The crash occurred at about 5:40 a.m.

State troopers continue to investigate.
