BLUE HILL — Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital has received a $1 million pledge from philanthropists Neil and Trudie Prior in support of the Next Century of Care: Keeping Our Promise campaign. The Priors’ gift will name the Inpatient Unit of the new hospital.

“We are deeply appreciative of Neil and Trudie’s extraordinary generosity,” said John Ronan, president of Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital, in a news release. “I’m proud that our rural hospital is so well regarded by our summer community residents who understand how essential its services are to this community. I’m grateful to Neil and Trudie for stepping forward with a gift signifying their investment in our success.”

The Priors of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Blue Hill, Maine, also provided significant support to the hospital’s last campaign.

“Neil and Trudie are generous philanthropists with a passion for community,” said the release. “Over the years they have supported many organizations in education, healthcare, and the arts.”

Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital launched the Keeping the Promise campaign in June of 2021 to invite the community to join in investing in their next century of care. The groundbreaking for a new, modern hospital took place on May 26.

“We consider Blue Hill a home away from home and are happy to be able to support this critical project for the community,” said the Priors. “We invite other seasonal residents to join us in supporting Blue Hill Hospital’s Keeping Our Promise Campaign.”

“The Priors have stepped forward with a transformative gift and we are grateful for their generosity,” aid Ruth Calas, director of Philanthropy. “The Prior’s investment in the Keeping Our Promise campaign will help ensure that when anyone on the Peninsula or beyond needs care Blue Hill Hospital stands ready to serve them.”
