Erin, Tenn.–The Houston County Sheriff’s Office has provided details on the capture of the suspect in the shooting of an Erin Police Officer. An extensive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies from the area has been ongoing since the officer was shot and wounded during a traffic stop earlier this week.

BJ Brown, age 32, is accused of attempted first degree murder in the shooting of the Erin police offier and wanted for second-degree murder in Louisiana. According to the New Orleans Police Department, Brown is accused of killing a woman in downtown New Orleans Monday morning.

At approximately 6:32 a.m., Chief Deputy Bryant, Deputy Medina and Detective Gordon of the City of Erin Police Department were checking the property of a residence located on Clay Tomlinson Road and the officers noticed that there was a door on an outbuilding located behind the residence partially open.

The officers secured the area around the outbuilding until other officers could arrive to assist in checking the outbuilding.

When the FBI Swat Team arrived officers then made entry into the outbuilding where they discovered BJ Brown inside the outbuilding.

Brown was then taken into police custody and transported to the Houston County Sheriffs Office. As we reported earlier, the handcuffs belonging to the wounded police officer were used in placing Brown into custody.
