Salute to Carol Burnett Auditions

The Canton Festival Theater is happy to announce that live community theater is returning to the Lewis Street Playhouse in Canton. The CFT will be presenting. “ A Salute to Carol Burnett”. The show will feature local talent in several of Carols’ greatest skits from her TV show as well as musical numbers from artists popular at that time such as Nancy Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., the Carpenters, Mama  Cass, Steve and Eddy, etc.

Auditions will be held  at the Lewis Street Playhouse  on Saturday July 9 and Sunday July 10  from 2-4 pm both days. Those wishing to audition should be 18 years of age, and present a dialog and/or song of no more than 1 minute in length.  Any community member wishing to help in other capacities. such as props, set design, stage manager, house manager, etc should attend one of the audition times as well to fill out paperwork. The show will be presented in the evening of August 27 with a matinee performance on August 28.

Carol Burnett is known as one of the most brilliant comedians of all time, and her  show ran for 11 years, garnering 25 prime-time Emmy awards. In 2019, Carol Burnett became the first recipient of the Carol Burnett Award, an honorary Golden Globe Award bestowed for outstanding contributions to television on or off the screen.  The entire staff of the Carol Burnett Show are donating their share of profits from these comedy sketches to the Navajo Indian Children’s Scholarship Trust.
